Vassar Brothers Medical Center (VBMC) is a 365-bed facility that has served New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley since 1887. Overlooking the beautiful Hudson River in the City Poughkeepsie, NY, VBMC has established centers of excellence in cardiac services, cancer care and women and children’s health services. As a renowned regional medical center, VBMC houses the area’s first and only cardiothoracic surgery program between Westchester and Albany and the only Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in the region for premature, underweight and critically ill infants. Our teams of physicians, surgeons and specialists bring innovative procedures and services to the VBMC campus. These include robotic orthopedic surgery, liver and pancreatic surgery, interventional neuroradiology, thoracic surgical oncology and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
Vassar’s $545 Million Dollar Patient Pavilion
VBMC is well advanced in building a 752,000-square-foot patient pavilion with 264 private medical/surgical patient rooms and 30 critical care rooms that will solidify its place as the care destination of choice for patients throughout our region. The addition of fifteen new surgical suites equipped with robotic technology, a TAVR room (for trans catheter aortic valve replacement) and cath lab, will enhance our surgical and interventional teams’ ability to perform the latest procedures. The first patient is expected for care in the building in early 2020 and incoming residents will be among the first to work with one of the most advanced hospitals in the country. VBMC recently became a Level II Trauma Center (provisional status), further advancing the vision to provide the community with local access to state-of-the-art medical care. Learn more.
